HOW TO UPDATE ?

1. Upgrade to SQL 2019
 
Why? GEM-CAR is dependent on SQL Server for the database it uses. Consequently, Microsoft SQL Server must be installed on your computers. Previously, GEM-CAR was compatible with SQL Server 2008. From now on, the development of GEM-CAR will be based on SQL Server 2019 that Microsoft is going to support until 2025.

What to do? Please contact us to make an appointment as soon as you are ready to upgrade to SQL Server 2019. 



2. Upgrade to Windows 10

Why? GEM-CAR must be installed on computers running Microsoft Windows 10 version 1909 or later with all applicable updates. Versions of Windows 10 prior to 1909 might have compatibility issues with GEM-CAR. The same thing applies for any other versions of Windows like Windows 8, 7 or XP. Microsoft having stopped supporting all these versions, we therefore cannot guarantee that all the features of GEM-CAR would work as intended. Furthermore, running older and unsupported versions of the Windows operating system can put your data at risk because of security breaches.  
 
What to do? After having upgraded to Windows 10, make an appointment with one of our technicians for the installation and configuration of GEM-CAR.
